Babysitting is a huge responsibility. Not only does a babysitter have to prevent problems from occurring, the babysitting must also be prepared to act in rare cases where a true emergency happens. This class is designed to prepare a babysitter to handle such emergencies, and to hopefully prevent them from occurring.

We provide this class to give the babysitter essential information about caring for infants and children, which in turn will lead to greater trust in babysitter and increased job opportunities. Upon completion of this course, attendees will receive a certificate of completion approved by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Intended Audience

We recommend babysitters in the age range of 12-16 years of age attend this class.

This program is not intended for anyone over the age of 18, and does not meet the regulatory requirements for child care providers in licensed settings.

Please note that the State of Colorado Department of Human Services does not regulate the age of a babysitter. It is up to the parents of the child providing babysitting services, and those of the child being watched, to ensure that the babysitter is able to handle such responsibility. It is the policy of Colorado Safety Training to respect the judgment of the parent(s) as to whether it is appropriate for their child to attend this training. We do enforce a minimum age of 12.

Participants who are disruptive or otherwise do not act in a manner that would be acceptable for the responsibilities to be assumed may have their parent(s) called and be asked to leave. Refunds are not issued in these circumstances.

FYI for Parents:

Please be aware that you child will need three to four hours for this class. At times, slightly less or slightly more time may be required. Please plan accordingly when registering, as we will be unable to issue certificates of completion to your child if he or she has not completed all mandatory content. Small group appointments are available and can be scheduled by contacting us. Thank you for your understanding.
