Babysitters Safety Training

Babysitting is a huge responsibility. Not only does a babysitter have to prevent problems from occurring, the babysitter must also be prepared to act in rare cases where a true emergency happens. This class is designed to prepare babysitters to handle these responsibilities.

We provide this class to give the babysitter essential information about caring for infants and children, which in turn will lead to greater trust in the babysitter and increased job opportunities. Upon completion of this course, attendees will receive a recognition of participation from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The American Academy of Pediatrics course is very similar to the babysitting safety program offered by a major national organization. The primary difference is that the time required to complete the class we offer is reduced to better accommodate the scheduling needs and attention span of the age group.

Intended Audience

This program is intended for potential babysitters. We require that attendees be within the age ranges of 12 to 16. Exceptions are made for responsibly acting children who are close to 12 years of age.

The State of Colorado Department of Human Services does not regulate the age of a babysitter. It is up to the parents of the child providing babysitting services, and those of the child being watched, to ensure that the babysitter is able to handle such responsibility. It is also the policy of Colorado Safety Training to require high standard of the attendees. Participants who are disruptive or otherwise do not act in a manner that would be acceptable for the responsibilities to be assumed may have their parent(s) called and be asked to leave. Refunds are not issued in these circumstances.

This program is not appropriate for anyone over the age of 18, and does not meet the regulatory requirements for child care providers in licensed settings.

FYI for Parents

Please be aware that your child will need about four hours for this class. Please plan accordingly around other activities when registering. Small group appointments are available and can be scheduled by contacting us. Thank you for your understanding.
