Do you know how to recognize life threatening EKG abnormalities? Do you have contact with patients who require cardiac monitoring?

This course is intended for anyone needing the ability to interpret ECG rhythms on a basic level. Many health care providers, from ECG Technicians to EMTs and nurses, will benefit from this class. This course is appropriate for ACLS and PALS pre-course preparation. This course is also appropriate for anyone intending to enter a paramedic program.

There are no prerequisites for this class. We welcome attendees regardless of level of certification or license.

    Anatomy and physiology of the heart
    ECG measurement
    Lead placement
    Fundamentals of rhythm analysis
    Rhythm strip interpretation (sinus, atrial, junctional and ventricular rhythms).

Mandatory Textbook

The mandatory textbook for this class is ECG Workout (5th ed.) by Jane Huff, ISBN 0781782309. You are required to have this book at the class and we recommend that you obtain it in time for pre-course review. The book is not included in the cost of the class and will not be available at the class. It is available through the Red Rocks Community College bookstore, Amazon.com and through local booksellers.
