Advanced First Aid
American
Red Cross Emergency Response
Course*
This course is about 40
hours and meets the United States Department of Transportation
(USDOT) standards on First Responder training.*
This class is ideal for first line emergency
responders such as fire fighters, park rangers, lifeguards, guides, ski
patrol personnel and anyone who wants advanced level first aid training
on what to do in an emergency situation.
This course will include training on the following
topics:
- Legal /
ethical issues
- Anatomy /
Physiology
- Preventing
Disease Transmission
- Assessment
- Breathing Emergencies,
Breathing Devices (Oxygen Administration)
- Cardiac Emergencies
- Bleeding and Shock
- Injuries to the Head,
Neck and Back (Spinal Immobilization)
- Muscle and Bone Injuries
(Splinting)
- Medical and Behavioral
Emergencies, Poisoning
- Childbirth
- Caring for Infants and
Children
- EMS Operations
The certificate issued at
the end of the class is good for 3 years.
The American Red Cross allows a challenge option for this course. If
you have sufficient experience, you may take the written and practical
tests. If you pass these, you will be awarded an American Red Cross
Emergency Response certificate valid for three years. Please visit the appointment scheduling page to sign up.
* = Please note
that this course is not designed to be, nor do we offer, Emergency
Medical Technician training. Also be aware that this course does not
provide state certification as a first responder. As the Emergency
Response course is frequently recognized as an equal, be sure to check
with your physician adviser, employer or organization to determine your
exact needs.
Cost: $350
At this time, we do not have any
scheduled classes. We are happy to provide courses by special
arrangement at our location or on-site for groups of three or more.
