Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in our training classes.

You may find answers to frequently asked questions below.

Q: What is an AED? What does AED stand for? What does an AED do?

AED stand for "Automatic External Defibrillator." When a victim of sudden cardiac arrest collapses, it is usually due to abnormal electrical activity in the heart called ventricular fibrillation. The heart quivers in a manner similar to jelly. It produces no output of blood to the brain, causing death to be imminent in a matter of minutes. An AED is a computerized device approved by the FDA for public use to save the life of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. It will stop this unorganized electrical activity in the heart, and allow the heart a chance to restart itself. AED devices are available in many schools, recreation centers, government and public buildings.

A: Usually just two. In any case, we make every effort to avoid class cancellations and in many cases do continue classes with one attendee.
