Frequently
Asked Questions
Thank you for your interest
in our training classes.
You may find answers to
frequently asked questions below.
Q:
What is an AED? What does AED stand for? What does an AED do?
AED stand for "Automatic
External Defibrillator." When a victim of sudden cardiac arrest
collapses, it is usually due to abnormal electrical activity in the
heart called ventricular fibrillation. The heart
quivers in a manner similar to jelly. It produces no output of blood to
the brain, causing death to be imminent in a matter of minutes. An AED
is a computerized device approved by the FDA for public use to save the
life of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. It will stop this
unorganized electrical activity in the heart, and allow the heart a
chance to restart itself. AED devices are available in many
schools,
recreation centers, government and public buildings.
Q: Will I get a
certification after completing my class?
A: Most classes we
offer include applicable certifications. All BLS, CPR for lay rescuer
and basic first aid classes are American Heart Association
certificates and are valid for two years. Our advanced and wilderness
first aid programs are approved through the American Red Cross with
certificates valid for three years. You may view the
specific length of time your certification will be good for by clicking
on the name of the class you are interested in on the left, and reading
the course description.
Q: How much does insert
name of class here
cost?
A: Please click on the name
of the class you would like to take on the left. The course description
will contain all information related to costs.
Q: I need to attend a class
at a different time than those you have listed, (or I need an immediate
class to get back to work.)
A: We are happy to assist
you with that request. Please visit our appointment
request page to self-schedule a private class.
Q:
I would like to pay at the time of the class.
A: While we recognize that
the majority of our customers are responsible individuals, we have had
too many problems in the past to continue this practice. We offer a
variety of secure payment methods, and will refund
your money if necessary in accordance with our cancellation policies. The
Better Business Bureau also has allow us to join their membership in
recognition of our consumer-friendly and ethical business
practices.
Q:
What payment types are accepted?
A: For class prepayments,
we accept
credit card payment either on-line or over the phone. We will also
accept checks drafted on government and business accounts only, with a
signed training agreement. No personal checks are accepted.
In some cases, we may be
able to accept enrollment into a class on a
walk-in basis if sufficient room exists in a class. Please call first
to confirm availability. To ensure a seat is
reserved, we encourage prepayment whenever possible.
Q:
Can I just pay you to
give me a certification in insert name of class here?
I'm very busy and need this class for (work, school, etc.)
A: NO! Our business is
focused on integrity and training people for real-world emergencies.
Giving certifications without proper demonstration of skills and/or
written tests is unethical and dangerous to people who may depend on
you. It is also a huge legal liability for both the customer and us.
Q: How much time does my
class take?
A: Due to our small class
sizes and individual attention, most classes can be completed in 3-4
hours. There are exceptions, please see the individual course
description (click on the link to the left) for specific details.
Q: How many
people do you need for my class to be held?
A: Usually just two. In
any case, we
make every effort to avoid class cancellations and in many cases do
continue classes with one attendee.
Q: Can I
receive my book before the class?
A: We have halted this practice simply due to the fact that it is not
necessary. Mailing of books just results in an extra cost for our
clients, without a resulting improvement in class performance.
Q: I need a quote for my
business (or group).
A: Please see our online quote request form. You may also get additional information
from our program
catalog.
