Medication Administration Training for Child Care Providers, Camps and Schools

Colorado Safety Training LLC offers a state-approved training program for medication administration. This course is intended for child care providers, schools and camp settings.

Please click here to download and view the student manual before your class. While we encourage students to print it out and bring it to the class, all information will be presented in video and/or lecture format during the class.

This 4 hour course includes the necessary training for medication administration:
  • Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Purposes of Medications.
  • Classifications of Medications.
  • Care and Storage of Medications.
  • Common Medications.
  • Fever.
  • Medication Routes: Common Forms of Medications
  • Severe Allergic Reaction - Anaphylaxis.
  • Asthma.
  • Requirements to Administer Medications.
  • Five Rights of Medication Administration.
The certificate issued at the end of the class is good for 3 years, State Department of Human Services, Child Care Division requirements.

FYI: While you must take this class to administer medications, be aware that this class alone does not constitute delegation to legally administer medications. Per the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, you (or your employer) must establish a relationship with a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Colorado. The RN will provide the legally mandated oversight necessary for you to administer medications.

This does not apply in family child care settings. No RN delegation is required for family child care providers.

Cost: $35

Please note the following information:

We are unable to offer an on-line payment discount for this program due to state-mandated pricing at $35 per person for this program. We may cancel classes with less than 4 people enrolled, again due to the state-mandated pricing structure.

This course is not appropriate for staff in assisted living centers or other residential facilities; or for anyone intending to pass medication as an unlicensed person outside the State of Colorado.
