Medication Administration Training for Child Care Providers, Camps and Schools This is a state-approved training program for medication administration. This course is intended for child care providers, foster parents, schools and camp settings ONLY. Reference Materials We have the student manual and helpful forms available here for download. We will provide a student manual for in-class reference, however you must download and/or print the manual for permanent reference. You will not receive a take home copy of the manual at the class.
Topics Included This 4 hour* course includes the necessary training for medication administration:
The certificate issued at the end of the class is good for 3 years as allowed per State Department of Human Services, Child Care Division rules. * = course length is dependant on attendance. Classes with lower enrollment may take less time. FYI: While you must take this class to administer medications, be aware that this class alone does not constitute delegation to legally administer medications. Per the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, you (or your employer) must establish a relationship with a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Colorado. The RN will provide the legally mandated oversight necessary for you to administer medications. This does not apply in family child care settings. No RN delegation is required for family child care providers. Please note the following information: This course is NOT APPROPRIATE for staff in assisted living centers or other residential facilities for authority to pass medication as a CNA or for anyone intending to pass medication as an unlicensed person outside the State of Colorado.
